~ OUTDOOR SCHOOL ~
What Is Lake Swan Outdoor School?
Lake Swan Outdoor School is an opportunity to get your students outside their comfort zone and into a new experience with God's Creation. From anthills to the swamp, students will experience firsthand the amazing diversity of God's handiwork as they watch their classroom lessons come to life. They will explore the world around them in a whole new way while also drawing closer to the God who created it all. Additionally, LSOS provides an environment where students can grow as a team. While conquering the elements of the challenge course or following blindfolded in the dark, they learn about trust, teamwork, and being a part of the body of Christ.
Why Is Outdoor Education Important?
Video games, computers, cell phones, oh my! Today's youth spend an astounding amount of time in front of a screen and very little time exploring outdoors. They may watch outdoor adventure shows, but many have never paddled a canoe themselves. They learn about insects and amphibians in class, but few have explored rotten logs to find and examine live specimens. Most have glimpsed a few stars, but how many have gazed up at constellations above them? Spending time in nature is not only important for physical and emotional health, it also can improve academics. Additionally, an experience at a Christian camp can have a profound spiritual impact. This year, choose a field trip that will touch your students' minds, bodies, and souls.
